Sql Developer Macos Big Sur

After upgrading to macOS Big Sur I couldn’t run Oracle SQL Developer. I got the following error: The application “SQLDeveloper.app” can’t be opened

To resolve this issue I got help from Kris Rice and Niels de Bruijn. The issue is caused by Apple and the Java applet plugin.

I'm using macOS Big Sur and Oracle 11g. Before updating my mac, I usually opened SQL Developer in the terminal: docker exec -it oracle sqlplus But after the update, I got an error: OCI runtime exec failed: exec failed: containerlinux.go:349: starting container process caused 'exec format error': unknown. If you want to access your DB from Mac OS X, there are several options. SQL-Developer It's a java application (free download at oracle). List your Java Versions

The one that caused the problem is the 'Oracle Corporation' - 'Java' /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home and you’ll need to remove it.

I recently upgraded macOS to Big Sur and now I can't open SQLDeveloper.app. I am getting this message: SQLDeveloper.app can’t be opened because the identity of the developer cannot be confirmed. With macOS Catalina it was working perfectly.

Remove the Applet Plugin

If you run SQL Developer now it should work. I’m not sure about the side effects of removing this Java applet plugin. If I find it to be critical to other things I’ll be sure to update this post.

Following the release of iOS 14.4 beta 1, watchOS 7.3 beta 1, and tvOS 14.1 beta 1, Apple has just released the first beta of macOS Big Sur 11.2 to developers. The update comes two days after the company released macOS Big Sur 11.1 to the public.

It’s unclear what’s new in the macOS Big Sur 11.2 beta, but based on the iOS 14.4 beta 1 — which was released earlier today — Apple is focusing on bug fixes and general improvements in today’s release.

The company made macOS Big Sur 11.1 available to the public on Monday with support for AirPods Max, the long-awaited App Store privacy labels, and Apple News widgets. macOS 11.1 was the first major update of Big Sur since Apple released macOS 11 to all users in November.

Review

Today’s macOS Big Sur update is now available to developers and can be downloaded through the Software Update menu in the macOS System Preferences app. This, of course, requires that your Mac is registered for beta releases.
